Founded in Swindon in 1972 by John Carter (Retrac is the family name in reverse) as a tooling and machining company, the emphasis on quality quickly led it to become a key supplier to F1 teams. This led to the formation of a sister company, Retrac Composites, in 1998.
In the 2000s, John’s three sons, led by managing director Andy Carter grew the Group to diversify into the Automotive and Aerospace sectors, establishing a portfolio of blue-chip clients.
A commitment to investing in people has created a loyal and highly-skilled staff, and in 2021 the Carter’s succession plan was realized when the company transitioned into an employee-owned business. This exciting new chapter saw the family step away from day-to-day control, and new CEO, Dan Walmsley, take the helm.
